Principal's Welcome

Greetings and salutations!

At OMS, we are proud of the opportunities that exist for both students and staff members. Besides a quality core curriculum of English-Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education, we offer a wide variety of Encore Classes including Band, Choir, Music Appreciation, Art, Spanish, Health, Tech Ed, Digital Literacy, Agriculture, Family and Consumer Education, and Business.  In addition, we also offer quality co-curricular activities including Student Council, Art Club, Forensics, a Spelling Bee, a Geography Bee, grade-level Math Competitions, 7th grade Quiz Bowl, and an annual Musical. We also have an array of athletic opportunities including Cross Country, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Wrestling, and Track and Field. What drives all of these opportunities for students is an outstanding staff that embraces quality professional development as they continually improve their professional practice to positively impact student learning.  

Our school and the staff also are keenly aware of the developmental stages of our students - physically, socially, and emotionally.  We help the students navigate the changes that they experience during their middle school years. We believe in the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) model for behavioral expectations, and these expectations are centered around three main pillars - Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.  We offer daily and monthly recognition and incentives including Eagle Pride slips, an all-school dance, social learning hours, cookie decorating, and movies in the gym, to name a few. We embrace the power of building positive relationships with students. 

I truly enjoy being the Principal at OMS and continue to look forward to the daily opportunities and rewards of working with and serving the students, parents, staff, and the community of Mauston.
