Registration Overview

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!

We are pleased to offer Online Registration for parents/guardians of new or returning 4K-12 students to the Mauston School District using Skyward Family Access. You will find this to be an easy process that you can complete at your convenience from home, work, or anywhere you have Internet access. The Mauston School District highly encourages new families to obtain an active email address in order to complete the online registration process.

All parents/guardians of returning students will need to update information and complete forms online (see below) for the 2024-2025 school year through Skyward Family Access.

Please see below for specific directions for your situation. For information about all of our learning options for the 2024-25 school year, please call the District 5Office at 608-847-5451. 

Directions for Online Registration

Enrollment for New Families

The directions found here are for new students with no siblings in the District.  Families who have children enrolled and want to enroll a sibling should go to the section for current families enrolling new students. Registration occurs through Skyward Family Access. The first step for new families is to request a Skyward Family Access account.

Step 1: Request a Skyward Family Access Account

Families are encouraged to have a valid email address to complete online registration.

  • Visit the New to District Registration page and request a username and password.
  • Complete the required fields, then click on “Click Here to Submit Account Request.”  An email will then be sent to the email address provided with a username and password along with a LINK for the parent/guardian to access the application portal.
    • You can make an account request without an email address, but you will have to write down your username and password.
  • Once you have your login information, log in to Skyward Family Access.

Step 2: Enrolling your child(ren) in Skyward Family Access

There is an option on the top right hand corner to select your language of choice.Skyward New to Student Registration

Log into your Skyward Family Access account and click on NEW TO DISTRICT REGISTRATION located in the upper left-hand side of the main window that appears after you are logged in. There are 6 steps to the application with instructions for each area, plus a number of custom forms that must be completed.

Complete steps 1-4 to provide student information, family information, medical information, and emergency contact information. Note that anywhere you see an (*) asterisk, this is a required field.  As you complete each step, you will have the option to complete and move to the next step or to complete that step only. Choose to complete that step only if you plan to save and continue later. Complete Step 5, Additional District Forms.  Some of these are required and some are optional. Once you complete this step, you will see a review of all steps. All steps must show a Date Completed to the right. Each step can be viewed or edited at this time.

The last step is for the parent/guardian to click  “Submit Application to the District”. Once you’ve submitted the application, it can be viewed but not edited. After you submit the application, the system will take you to a Summary Page. If there is a sibling to enroll, click the button “Click to Enroll Additional Students.” Otherwise you are finished. If the system does not allow you to click to submit, please review each step to ensure each step has been submitted even if you haven’t added data to that page.

 

Returning Student Enrollment Directions

PLEASE NOTE that only the Parent/Guardian listed first in FAMILY ACCESS will have rights to complete Online Registration and/or make changes.  This is by design in our Student Information System.  If you are listed in the number 2 position, please contact the office of the school your child attends.

Skyward New to Student Registration

1. Log into your Skyward Family Access account and click on RETURNING STUDENT ONLINE REGISTRATION located in the upper left hand side of the main window that appears after you are logged in. When clicking on the tab, you will see a list of your returning students, please complete the process for each student.

 2. Complete the first steps to verify student information, family information, medical information and emergency contact information. Note that anywhere you see an (*) asterisk, this is a required field. As you complete each step, you will have the option to complete and move to the next step. 

3. After Step 2, there is additional forms to complete. Some of these are required and some are optional. Use the View Full Screen button to expand the form to see all the fields. As you complete the forms, a green checkmark will appear next to the steps.

4. The last step is for the parent/guardian to click  “Submit Returning Student Online Registration”. Once you’ve submitted the application, it can be viewed but not edited. If the system does not allow you to click to submit, please review each step to ensure each step has been submitted even if you haven’t added data to that page.

 

New Students with Siblings in the District

If You Currently Have One or More Students Enrolled in One of our Schools and Need to Enroll a New Student:

1.Log into your Skyward Family Access account then select New to District Registration located on the upper left of the window that appears after you are logged in.

2. Complete the Application online and submit for approval after completing ALL steps and Custom Forms.  You will NOT be requesting a username and password. You need to use your Family Access login credentials. If you do not remember your Family Access login name or password, please contact the main office of the building that your child will or currently attends.

PLEASE NOTE that only the Parent/Guardian listed first in FAMILY ACCESS will have rights to complete Online Registration and/or make changes. This is by design in our Student Information System.  If you are listed in the number 2 position, please contact the main office of the school your child attends.  

4-Year-Old Kindergarten Enrollment

If you are new to the School District of Mauston, please follow the directions for New Families.

If you have children already enrolled in the District and have a child that will attend school for the first time, such as 4-Year-Old Kindergarten, follow the directions for New Students with Siblings in the District.

SDM Virtual School Programming

The School District of Mauston offers families a Full-Time Virtual Program.  We are partnering with Wisconsin Virtual School and JEDI to use a combination of classes to meet student learning needs. The full-time programming is only for School District of Mauston resident families. 

The Mauston Virtual Program is available at each of our traditional schools. To register for the Full-Time Virtual Program, please:

  • Contact the District Office at 608-847-5451.
    • You'll be directed to the student's grade-level principal for a conversation about what the programming will entail.
  • Follow the directions for Returning Students to register for school.

Charter School Enrollment & Online Registration

Registration for students new to the Montessori, Lemonweir Academy, and iLEAD Charter Schools follows a two-step process.  

Families should complete and submit the Charter School application.  If you have questions about enrollment, please contact Jolene Routson at 608-847-1828, Ext. 1149 for Mauston Montessori Charter School, Rachel Tambornino at 608-847-5451, Ext. 4405 for Lemonweir Academy, and Gil Saylor at 608-847-4410, Ext. 5323 for iLEAD Charter School.

  • Continue the enrollment process using the new student online registration process.

For returning students, use the "Returning Students Enrollment Directions" above.
