Thank you for visiting our Design and Construction page, where we will share ongoing updates as the referendum projects move forward.
On November 3, 2020, the Mauston-area community voted to approve a $54.8 million referendum. The referendum allows the District to borrow funds to build a new elementary school to replace West Side Elementary; safety and site improvements, building systems updates and capital maintenance at all schools; construction of an addition and remodeling at the High School, including technical education areas and classrooms; construction of an addition and remodeling at Grayside Elementary School; and remodeling and updating Olson Middle School and Lyndon Station Elementary School.
Process
Since the referendum passed, the district has finished the design planning with our architectural and construction partners, PRA and Miron Construction. Staff members have been involved in this process by going on tours of neighboring schools and by participating in user groups. We appreciate their valuable input during the design phase.
Our groundbreaking ceremony took place behind the Mauston High School on June 8, 2021. Pictures of the event are available on the right.
The new elementary school (which kept the name of West Side Elementary) opened on September 1, 2022, to students and staff, and the Grayside addition opened in May 2022. The Technical Education wing addition at Mauston High School is also completed.
Olson Middle School had its auditorium and makerspace remodeled, and we could not be more impressed. Lyndon Station Elementary also had some cosmetic work done at its building, with new carpeting and tile work, bathroom remodels, and new cabinetry.
There was an open house for the Mauston High School technical education addition on October 12. On October 26, Lyndon Station Elementary held its own open house to show off its changes. On November 30, a dedication ceremony was held at the new West Side Elementary building, and an open house followed at West Side, Grayside, and Olson Middle School. Before the ceremony, Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers, came and toured the new building, visiting with staff and students. We are very appreciative and grateful for his visit, as well as the support from our communities.
Thank you.
