My name is Julie Quist, and I’m one of the School Counselors at Mauston High School & iLead Charter College and Career Center. I am excited to be working with Freshmen and Juniors at MHS and iLEAD Charter School this year. For 24 years, I have been working as a high school counselor. It has been a wonderful journey! Over the years, I have had the privilege to work with amazing students and families and a variety of community partners and agencies.
A proud fact is that I was a “first-generation college student.” Growing up on a small dairy farm taught me a solid work ethic and never to give up! Having no other siblings or parents that went on to college was at times very challenging for me. My desire to make a difference as a future school counselor outweighed my fears of failing. Through the support and encouragement of others, I was able to reach the goal of becoming a licensed school counselor. That journey still feeds my passion for helping all students with finding their pathway, too. Whether it be joining the military, starting a business, apprenticeship, technical college, university, or service work such as the Peace Corp, I am honored to help with that process.
Hobbies and interests for myself keep me anchored and joyful! I love being in my kitchen creating, and I also enjoy collecting old cookbooks. It is truly relaxing to use my great-grandmother’s cookbook when experimenting with recipes. In the Fall season, we also enjoy time at our family farm back in Richland Center. I also realized after traveling to India, that I enjoy learning about other cultures and traditions. Faith is also a strong anchor for me whether celebrating the “good times” or embracing the “tough times” in life.
I look forward to working with your Gr 10 and Gr 12 students in the 2022-2023 school year. The best way to reach me is by giving me a call or sending an email. Throughout the day, I may have a variety of activities taking place, so I update my voicemail and email regularly to reflect availability. Please, feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns.
Best regards,
Mrs. Quist, School Counselor Gr 10 & Gr 12
