The 2015-17 Wisconsin Budget Bill that was signed into law by Governor Walker on July 12, 2015 mandates that schools can only grant a high school diploma if a student successfully completes a civics assessment.
The requirement is that students pass 60 of the 100 multiple-choice questions that make up the US naturalization exam in order to graduate from a WI high school.
- Students must get 60/100 questions correct to graduate from a Wisconsin high school.
- The test may be taken multiple times in order for a student to pass. The test may first be taken in 9th grade.
- Students at Mauston High School will take this assessment in their required Civics 10 class.
