One of the relatively new course offerings at Mauston High School is IMPACT: Hospitality and Tourism. This course is an example of innovation in education combining business concepts with writing and communication skills.
This Laude class is taught cooperatively between a business teacher and an English teacher. IMPACT students will apply their course work into real-world settings through hands-on learning, solving authentic business problems through project-based assignments, and working one-on-one with mentors in the community.
This class has had business partnership projects with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, Kalahari Resort, Chula Vista Resort, Woodside Sports Complex, The Lodge at Mauston, Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Mauston Chamber of Commerce, Bella Goose Coffee, and the Tommy Bartlett Show. This class is transcripted by Western Technical College and is worth a 1/2 credit in English and a 1/2 credit in Business
