Welcome to the School District of Mauston
Dear Residents of the Mauston School District:
Mauston Schools and Mauston students are successful because they receive support from the larger school district and community. Mauston is fortunate to have support from parents, grandparents, families at large, and community citizens. It is a hallmark that Mauston Schools have dedicated and caring teachers, administrators, and support staff. These individuals are able to make a difference in the lives of children and youth because the community of Mauston cares.
As Mauston Schools plan now and in the future for continued excellence in educational programming for all of its students, we will depend on and need our community’s sincere support. As a common school district, the School District of Mauston needs your approval and support to finance our school district. Your investment in public education is what makes our public schools possible. The Annual School District Meeting is one opportunity for you to demonstrate your ownership in your schools. The agenda, established by Wisconsin State Statute, and approved by your Mauston School Board, includes those items identified through state law that require annual approval by the electorate. The Annual Meeting is true democracy in action and spirit.
Mauston Schools is committed to professionally developing all staff so that they can be the most skilled educators in our region. This year we will welcome eight new teachers, and seven new support staff members to the district. Some familiar faces will return as long-term substitute teachers, and library-media director. The first day of school for all students this year is Tuesday. September 4. Before the school year starts, all teachers will participate in three days of professional development and classroom preparation.
You can be confident that the Mauston School District is committed to work with abandon to assure that students and families experience a challenging, meaningful, and responsive education. Education is vital to the success of our working lives, to our children’s futures, and to long term global development. Mauston Schools accepts the commitment to support and foster the deep learning that our students deserve. We stand by our mission statement’s words, …”to create a community which works together to help all children reach their highest potential.” We want and need our community to take an active and collective role in deliberately partnering with us to assist our students in finding their own “true north” in school and in life.
We strive to have our schools in Mauston be places where families and the community are welcome. We want you to be active in the lives of your children as we work together to positively influence their learning.
I would like to personally thank you for your continued support of your student’s learning and your unlimited patience as we work together to make our schools and community an even finer place to learn and live.
Respectfully,
Dr. Christine M. Weymouth
Superintendent of Schools
