The School District of Mauston has a seven member board of education. Its regular monthly meetings are generally held the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the district office. School board members are elected to a three-year term of office.
Special school board meetings may be held from time to time, and for a variety of reasons, (i.e., issues arise that must be dealt with before the date of the next regular meeting, student expulsion hearings, etc.). Special board meetings are posted in accordance with open meetings laws. Electronic copies are posted in all of the school buildings, and sent via fax machine and email to all local media. In addition, the notices of special school board meetings are faxed to three public locations, where they are posted to inform the public about such meetings. The School District of Mauston sends copies of all special school board notices to the Hatch Public Library, to Mauston City Hall, and to Hess Memorial Hospital, for public posting.
If you have any questions about the posting of school board agendas, please feel free to contact Superintendent Christine M. Weymouth at 847-5451, ext. 6682.
Standing committees of the board include: Finance, Policy & Personnel, Property and Transportation, and Negotiations. Committee meetings are often held immediately prior to regular board meetings. However, special committee and/or board meetings may be scheduled at other times.
