The Mauston School District has a commitment to excellence in education of students in the District.  The classroom teacher is a primary contributor to this commitment.  Therefore, the District has a variety of support systems in place to develop teacher potential.

 

 The components of this support system are: 

• Mentor training
• Assignment of a mentor
  
• Building principal orientation activities
  
• Ongoing mentor/new teacher activities
  
• Monthly support seminars

Throughout the orientation program, the goal is to enhance teacher performance.  Understanding district and school goals, developing knowledge of curriculum, and building confidence in how they relate to students helps teachers become more effective within the classroom and throughout the district.  
 

The new educator’s experience during the first year greatly influences future career development.  This initial teaching experience affects not only the teacher, but also student learning.
